Using the target shift in INTELLiVENT®-ASV®

INTELLiVENT-ASV uses the PetCO2 measured by the CO2 sensor as monitoring input for the regulation of ventilation. In general, the measured PetCO2 value represents a reliable index of the PaCO2 that is measured using blood gas analysis. Under common conditions, PaCO2 is approximately 3–5 mmHg higher than PetCO2. However, under special clinical conditions the difference between the values may increase, requiring adjustment of the ventilation targets. The Target Shift control allows you to move the PetCO2 target range to the left or right within the defined limits.

In this video, we use the example of a moderate COPD patient and show you how to shift the PetCO2 target range in order to reach the PaCO2 targets.
